The Biden administration has temporarily suspended a major climate proposal that commanded a 50% reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. This move came after numerous legal challenges arising from various stakeholders, including a coalition of Republican attorneys general and several industry groups, who claim the initiative to be unprecedented, unlawful, and would cause significant economic harm. The administration stated that more time is needed to solidify the legal defence and ensure the proposed policy is achievable and sustainable. President Biden affirmed his commitment to tackle climate change
